What Forge of Empires is
Forge of Empires is a strategy and city-building game by InnoGames, released in 2012, playable in the browser and on mobile. You lead a city from the Stone Age through historical eras into the future. Players share a neighbourhood where they can attack each other and plunder production from buildings, and guilds compete in modes such as Guild Battlegrounds.
What Crownforge shares with it
You plan and upgrade a city, research and train an army, and you play with other people in an alliance. Timers run on the server, so short visits are enough, and the game is free in the browser.
What is different
Fantasy instead of history. Crownforge does not move through eras. Your buildings grow through 30 levels in six visual stages inside one fantasy valley, and each stage is an animated rebuild.
No plundering. PvP is mild: troops are not lost permanently and castles do not burn, so you do not log in to find your production taken.
Heroes and dragons. Six heroes with bonds that act as reactions in battle, and three dragons that hatch from eggs and fight beside the army.
A weekly raid of 20 waves tests your walls and towers instead of other players.
When Forge of Empires is the better choice
Forge of Empires has more than a decade of content: many eras, great buildings and deep guild modes. If you want to climb through history or play years of guild competition, it gives you more today. Crownforge is a new world in open beta, where early players still help name rivers and bridges.
